Special Education Advocate & Consultant

Advocacy for the Special Ones in Your Life offers special education advocacy services, including attending school IEP meetings.

We partner with parents of children with a variety of special needs in order to get their needs met in schools.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, Reading & math difficulties, Specific Learning Disability (SLD), Other Health Impairment (OHI), Speech and language articulation, Expressive and receptive communication (SLP), Anxiety, ADHD, Motor planning, Sensory issues, Executive functioning concerns, Tourette Syndrome, Down Syndrome, and others.

How we support families of children with disabilities:

  • Navigating IEP situations related to their child’s special education needs or placement.

  • Getting the IEP that’s in the best interest of their child

  • All things IEP (Individualized Education Plan) and 504 Plans — creation, implementation, review and changes.

  • Ensuring their child’s school is honoring ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) regulations.

  • Collaborating with their child’s school IEP or 504 Plan team so everyone is on the same page with what’s in the best interest of the child/student.

  • Putting in place related services for their special needs child, such as job coaching, speech & language therapy, executive functioning coaching, social work, behavioral BCBA support, nursing, and occupational or physical therapy.

Proverbs 31:8-9
Open your mouth for the mute, For the rights of all the unfortunate. Open your mouth, judge righteously, And defend the rights of the afflicted and needy.

“If you’re looking for someone who knows the laws and truly advocates for your child, you won’t find anyone better than Laurie.”

— Dick C.
