Summer Tutoring Groups were developed because parents are trying to support their special needs kid(s) academically - and the kids just want to have fun! In these small tutoring groups, our experienced special education teachers deliver REAL LEARNING STRATEGIES for students to take into the classroom in the fall. This is a no-bully zone where kids can make friends and learn fundamental skills, while being engaged and having fun!

  • Our tutoring groups are designed for children age 4-22 years old, with a variety of special needs, including:

    Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Dyslexia, Reading & math difficulties, Specific Learning Disorder (SLD), Other Health Impairment (OHI), Speech and language articulation, Expressive and receptive communication, Anxiety, ADHD, Motor planning, Sensory issues, Executive functioning concerns, Tourette Syndrome, Down Syndrome, and others.

    These tutoring groups are ideal for children who can function well online.

  • All of our tutoring groups are virutal and meet online. Each group is 1 week long, and meets Monday through Friday for two hours. You may register for multiple groups for learning all throughout the summer!!

  • The cost for a 1 week, 10 hour tutoring group is $250 (or $25/hr). There is a multi-class discount! When signing up your child (or multiple children) for more than 1 group, the cost reduces to $215 per week-long group (or $21/hr). Use coupon code “multiple”.

Tutoring Groups for Special Needs Children

Grades 3-6

50 States (Grades 3-6) | Students will learn about the geography and history of the United States. They learn songs to help them remember states and capitals. Students will participate in activities related to each state, such as making state flags and learning about famous landmarks and locations. Students can share their vacation photos to help connect their experiences!!

Grades 3-6

Math Strategies (Grades 3-6) | Students will build their math skills and confidence. They will learn a variety of strategies to solve math problems, including mental math techniques, visual aids, touch math and hands-on activities. Students will practice their skills with fun math games.

Grades 6-12

Math Strategies (Grades 6-12) | Students will develop their math skills by learning different strategies to solve problems. They will focus on areas such as multiplication, division, fractions, decimals, problem-solving, computation, critical thinking, and mental math. Students will be able to apply the strategies they learn in real-life situations.

Grades 6-8

Periodic Table (Grades 6-8) | Students will learn about the periodic table of elements by learning the songs to help them remember the elements so they are better ready for Chemistry class!! They will learn about the properties of different elements, symbols, and atomic numbers by learning lyrics to the song!

Grades K-3

Phonetics (Grades K-3) | Students will improve their reading and spelling skills through a multi-sensory approach. Students will learn phonemic awareness, letter recognition, and word decoding skills through games, songs, and hands-on activities. The focus will be fun and games!

Grades 6-8

Public Speaking (Grades 6-8) | Students will build confidence in public speaking by practicing different techniques such as tone, pacing, and body language. Students will work on speeches and presentations about things they enjoy! They will have opportunity throughout the week to showcase their newfound skills. This group is for students who have a passion to share! It will be a great outlet for those who have a lot to say about a particular topic!

Grades 3-6

School House Rock (Grades 3-6) | Students will learn about grammar, history, science, and other subjects through catchy songs and animated videos. They will sing along to popular School House Rock songs and engage in activities related to the lessons. These songs can be used in the classroom to help remember lessons learned!

Grades 3-6

Science (Grades 3-6) | Students will be introduced to the world of science! They will learn about different scientific concepts, such as the scientific method, matter, energy, and ecosystems. Students will participate in hands-on experiments and demonstrations to deepen their understanding of these concepts. **Home materials will be required.

Grades 3-6

Social Emotional Learning (Grades 3-6) | Students will focus on building their social and emotional skills. They will learn about self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social communication. Students will participate in activities that promote teamwork and cooperation, such as group problem solving and role-playing exercises.

Grades K-3

Singing (Grades K-3) | Students will learn new songs and have fun! The Session will focus on building confidence, teamwork, and creativity through singing games and activities.

Grades 3-6

Spelling Bee (Grades 3-6) | Students will practice spelling words from various categories, such as geography, history, and science. They will also learn tips and tricks for spelling difficult words. ALL abilities welcome. It will be a safe space for all, utilizing lists that students submit so that success can be had by ALL.

Grades 9-12

Spelling Bee (Grades 9-12) | Students will be able to learn new words and practice their spelling skills. The session will be interactive and engaging, with activities such as word puzzles, group games, and individual spelling challenges. ALL abilities welcome. It will be a safe space for all, utilizing lists that students submit so that success can be had by ALL.

Grades K-3

Writing (Grades K-3) | Students will develop writing skills by learning how to write simple sentences, paragraphs, and stories about things that interest them! Students will learn how to express their ideas through writing and build their vocabulary and grammar skills while writing about high interest, preferred topics!

Grades 3-6

Grades 6-8

Writing (Grades 6-8) | Students will develop their writing skills by focusing on different types of writing such as narrative, persuasive, and expository. They will learn about writing structure, grammar, and style while writing about topics that are relevant and interesting to them. High interest, preferred topics!

Meet Our Special Ed Teachers

Melissa

Melissa has over ten years of experience in education, including an M.Ed. degree in General Special Education. She has worked with students from preschool through sixth grade. She is experienced with individualized instruction for specific student needs, including those with an IEP or 504. She strives to promote a positive online learning environment where her students may form positive relationships with peers while exploring and engaging with the curriculum. Melissa also has a background in science, psychology, and animal behavior with three years experience working as a zookeeper!

Katrina

Katrina has over 20 years of experience in the field of education, including a Master’s degree in Special Education. Her experience spans from teaching in a traditional classroom setting to online virtual instruction. She has an extensive background working with diverse learners, and has contracted into several schools throughout Chicagoland and Michigan to support students in grades K-8. She is passionate about her work as a special education teacher, where she partners with students, families, and schools to address children’s unique needs, maximizing their learning potential, and write IEPs to help develop confident and successful students.

Jennifer

Jennifer has been an educator for over 27 years and taught a variety of ages from toddlers to adults.  She earned her Professional Educator License (PEL) in LSB1, Reading and Elementary Education. She is married and has two sons, a 23-year-old and 9-year-old. She is also the mom to a senior cat, and one year old puppy. This is why she is goofy and fun! Being a mom, she knows about Minecraft, Roblox, Super Mario, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Star Wars. She cannot forget about Disney characters and Superheroes. You will have plenty of time to share and learn from each other. She is ready to go on a virtual adventure with you this summer!
