Where do I start if I suspect my child has a disability?

Question: Where do I start if I suspect my child has a disability?

Answer:

I always suggest starting with either the school or your pediatrician or another healthcare provider. Get someone to listen to your concerns and to take them seriously. Definitely trust your gut! If you need t document, then go ahead and document instances, suspicions, situations so that you can be fully prepared to share the whole picture of your concerns with your child with either the school personnel or a health provider. I think you need to get their attention first and that usually starts with an appointment. That can be done either through email with the school or how you would normally make an appointment with your health provider. I would definitely say, hey I want to meet with somebody to talk about the concerns I have with my child.
