Special Education Advocacy

We attend IEP meetings with parents - locally & nationally online

Many parents come to us frustrated with their child’s school IEP team. Often parents don’t feel heard or valued as part of the team. As advocates in school meetings, we help with the special education process.

If your child is experiencing a behavioral, emotional, communication, academic or social issue that’s impacting their learning… and you aren’t sure how to get an IEP or 504 Plan, or aren’t aware of the IEP process, we are here to help. Many times parents tried so hard to get appropriate special education services for their child and were unsuccessful.

Whatever the situation, parents and children with disabilities/students have rights that need to be honored! We’re here to support parents in understanding these rights, collaborate with the school, and promote what’s in the best interest for their child.

8 Ways We Help with the IEP and Special Education (SPED) Process

  • We listen to your unique situation and hope to make you feel heard, understood, (and hopeful for a positive outcome!) in what you’re going through.

  • We analyze the situation, and gather and review paperwork of children with disabilities.

  • We educate you on parent and child/student rights, and how to best navigate the situation at hand. Call for help with manifestation determination reviews, change of placement, eligibility for an IEP, domain meetings, and anything school related.

  • We collaborate with interested parties, such as the school (teachers, case manager, related service providers, admin, etc.), neuropsychologists and doctors.

  • We advocate for parent and child/student rights and help resolve issues every step of the way.

  • We may mediate difficult conversations where the school and parent have different opinions, by understanding both sides and coming back to the rights and best interest of the child.

  • We connect parents with referrals and resources that can support their child’s learning journey.

  • We are available for ongoing support as parents need us, whether that’s during, initial eligibility, the annual review of the IEP/504 meeting, transition planning or as any other questions or issues arise.
